Part time position
The Award winning Holmfirth Vineyard are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with a passion for wine, who is looking for an opportunity for growth. You must enjoy interacting and hosting customers, be highly organised with a keen eye for detail, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and a good nose and palette for wine.
The successful candidate will have high levels of personal and presentational skills and will join our small and friendly team and, under the guidance of the General Manager, supervise the operations of The Tasting Lounge winery. The job will be very varied and will ultimately include hosting and organising wine tastings and vineyard tours, wine making, vineyard management, wine sales, wine tasting, planning of the weekly wine list, writing wine descriptions, stock control, administration and planning and executing promotional activities.
2012 will go down as strange year for many English Vineyards, but at Holmfirth Vineyard we still achieved a successful quality pick, even if the volume was a little down on what we would have hoped for. The picking was tackled by a number of vineyard full time staff not just from the winery but also the visitor centre, with the added bonus this year we were also given an extra boost by Tony Haigh from Holmfirth Rotary Club who volunteered his precious spare time to help, thank you Tony.

On Sunday 22nd August, Holmfirth Vineyard was awarded 2 fantastic wine awards from the Mercian Vineyards Association annual wine tasting competition for our White and Rose wines. Over 160 wines were entered, our Rose Holme View 2009 English wine received the award of Highly Commended, and our 2009 White wine HD9 went one better and received a Bronze medal. A gasp rung out around the room when the result was announced. The competition judges were very strict this year and we noticed wines that had been put in to the same competition last year performed lower this year with the judges harder marking.
