Holmfirth vineyard is situated at Woodhouse Farm and is a seven acre vineyard, planted with 7000 vines, the farm was originally a sheep rearing business until Nov 2007. The vineyard sits in the beautiful location of Holmfirth, in the Holme Valley of West Yorkshire and is surrounded by panoramic views of the
Peak
District
National Park home to ‘The last of the summer wine’ TV series.
There are 5 varieties of grape all planted by hand; 3 red varieties which are Rondo, Regent and Acolon plus 2 white varieties Ortega and Solaris. These vines have been chosen because they have been developed specifically to compliment & grow well in cooler climates. They are disease resistant and ripen mid to late September/October the first crop will be in October 2010, when it is hoped to make the wine onsite in the new purpose built winery.
